Why this kit matters The Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 was one of the main fighter aircraft used by the Luftwaffe during the early years of the Second World War.
Powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, it combined speed, climb rate and firepower in a compact airframe.
The E-4 variant introduced improved canopy armour and revised armament arrangements.
During the Battle of Britain in 1940, the Bf 109E-4 served as the main escort fighter for German bomber formations and fought directly against RAF Hurricanes and Spitfires.
Its influence on early air combat tactics made it one of the defining fighters of the period. A 1/72 scale plastic model kit of the Bf 109E-4 remains a key subject in any Second World War aircraft collection.
