FAQs about model tank kits
I’m new to building models. Which model kit should I start with?
If you’re a beginner at building model kits, the best place to start is to find the type of model that interests you the most. Are you a World War II enthusiast looking to assemble a realistic version of a Panzerjager tank? Or do modern weapons like missile launchers and fighter jets catch your eye?
We recommend new builders start with 1/35 scale kits, such as the Academy 1/35 Tiger WII Tank or the Trumpeter USMC Piranha tank model. While many beginners find 1/72 models appealing because of their more affordable prices, they also include smaller parts that can be fiddly and frustrating when assembling your first kit. Our 1/35 kits provide enough detail to create a satisfying final product while featuring conveniently-sized parts that make them a fun challenge to assemble.
Do you stock separate pieces that I can add to my existing model kits?
Yes, we do!
One of the highlights of building multiple model kits is using them to create your own diorama. We stock a range of smaller pieces that will bring your tank diorama’s to life.
Spruce up your World War II battlefield display with a set of 1/35 scale Bronco German Jerry Cans and Tamiya 1/35 Sand Bags. If you have a specific vision in mind, our expansive range includes telephone poles, cable spools, brick barricades, fuel drums, and more!
We stock tow cables to add to your finished kits to simulate transport vehicles towing model tanks or other vehicles to safety in the heat of war. Plus, you can customise your tanks with our AFV Club coating stickers designed to suit the exact specifications of different models across our range. These stickers simulate the anti-reflective coating lens used on military tanks to block glare and tactical light from the enemy.
Do you stock tanks that I can control?
Yes!
From our 1/60 scale, Kyosho Desert RC Tank to our 1/16 scale Tamiya German Jagdpanzer, we stock a range of RC tanks that are suitable for radio control novices and experts. We specialise in supplying RC tanks that provide hours of entertainment designed with historically accurate features. For example, the Heng Long 1/16 German Panzer IV includes a 360-degree rotating barrel with an up and down motion to simulate the feeling of controlling a real tank.
While many of our RC tanks need to be assembled, such as the Tamiya 1/35 RC Russian Tank, the assembly process is typically less intricate and not as time-consuming as our tank models. As such, we recommend our RC tanks to anyone who enjoys assembling models and also wants to have fun with the finished product.
