Description
Hasegawa 1/72 Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet "VFA-151 Vigilantes CAG" # 02365 The F/A-18 Hornet is a fighter and attack aircraft developed by McDonnell-Douglas and Northrop Grumman.
It can operate in all weather situations.
The F/origins A-18's can be traced back to the F-17 prototype, which piqued the interest of the US Navy leadership in 1974.
The contract for the aircraft's serial production was signed in 1976.
The Northrop concern collaborated with the McDonnell-Douglas concern to speed up the task.
As a result, on November 18, 1978, the prototype flew for the first time, followed by successful landings aboard the aircraft carrier a year later.
Since 1982, the aircraft has been delivered with linear engines powered by General Electric F404-GE-402 engines.
There are various variations of the plane available.
The F-18A (fighter) and F-18B (bomber) were the first (training).
Orders from Spain, Canada, and Australia arrived promptly.
In 1987, a variant of the F-18C was developed that could fire AMRAAM missiles.
The F / A-18D, a two-seater derivative of the F-18, entered service a year later and could be utilised as an attack aircraft in all weather circumstances.
The R / F-18D reconnaissance version was built on top of it.
The most recent models (dubbed "Super Hornets"), the F/A-18E and F/A-18F, are heavily modified versions of the F/A-18D.
They are distinguished by increased fuselage length, wingspan, and surface area.
They also have new General Electric F414 engines and avionics that have been significantly extended and improved.
The first time they were seen was in 1995.
The electronic warfare jet, the EA-18G Growler, was likewise based on the F-18.
All versions of the F/A-18 were well received by pilots, with a low failure rate, ease of operation, and excellent flight qualities.
Hornets took part in Campaign Desert Storm in 1991 and the 1986 operation against Libya.
