Restored by Tabarly and his father when Eric was merely seven years old, this cutter became the foundation of a remarkable racing career. Born in Nantes in 1931, Tabarly revolutionized ocean racing during an era dominated by Anglo-Saxon competitors, consistently achieving victories and breaking records. Rather than rest on these accomplishments, he continually refined his vessel designs in pursuit of greater speed and performance. Tragically, Tabarly's life ended when he disappeared in the English Channel while sailing the original Pen Duick to a classic sailing regatta in Scotland.
