One of the 16 famous British Tribal Class destroyers, HMS Cossack was an advanced and heavily armed vessel in service by the beginning of the Second World War. It was built for battle and provided the Royal Navy with a significant capability upgrade. 

She was famous for her crew boarding the German supply ship Altmark in February 1940, where they rescued more than 300 Allied sailors captured during the pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee’s earlier commerce raiding successes.

History

HMS Cossack was part of the Royal Navy's esteemed Tribal Class destroyers, marking a significant leap in naval prowess upon her commissioning. These ships were engineered as robust, heavily armed vessels, capable of handling the demands of contemporary naval engagements.
