The Virgina was designed in 1819 and launched that same year. Also know as schooners, these boats offered great maneuverability and elegance. The Virginia was equipped with a central swivel mounted carronade. Being lighty armed with high speed capability the Virginia was used as a coast guard boat for pursuit and intercepting tasks.
This kit includes pre-cut plywood keel section and frames, and double planked hull. Blocks and deadeyes are yellow boxwood. Eyelets, bracers, belaying pins, and cabin door hinges are brass, as are the 250 miniture nails used to fasten the hull and deck planking.

Jolie Brise is a gaff rigged pilot cutter built and launched by the Albert Paumelle Yard in Le Havre in 1913 to a design by Alexandre Pâris. After a short career as a pilot boat, owing to steam replacing sail, she became a fishing boat. In 1977 she was bought for Dauntseys School Sailing Club.
