Trumpeter 1/35 German E-50 Flakpanzer 01537 Plastic Model Kit

Description

The E-50 hull was practically identical to the King Tiger in overall dimensions except for the glacis plate layout. The plates would have been interlocked and welded as on other German vehicles, giving great strength and rigidity. The engine chosen was an improved version of the Maybach HL230 as fitted to the Panther and the Tiger II. Called the HL234, it developed 900 HP using fuel injection, and was expected to produce up to 1200 HP with supercharging. The location of fuel tanks, radiators and fans was similar to the Tiger II. Maximum speed was to be 60 KPH. The idea was to assemble both types on the same production line, using identical production machinery and brought in sub assemblies.:

Description This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit. The proposed E-series of Entwicklung (developmental) tanks was Germany's attempt at creating a standardized line of armored fighting vehicles that would incorporate interchangeable parts. There were to be six weight classes, designated E-5, E-10, E-25, E-50, E-75, and E-100. Only the E-100 ever got off the drawing boards, and even then it only made it so far as a turretless, engineless chassis and suspension. There are rumors that three E-25 hulls were manufactured, but they have never been documented. This E-50 Flakpanzer version is entirely fictional (and very cool!), although a prototype of the turret was rumored to have been built in January of 1945. The E-50 Flakpanzer was to mount twin 5.5cm anti-aircraft guns in a fully rotating turret. The tank was to crewed by four crewmen and was to carry 104 rounds of ammunition. Trumpeter's E-50 Flakpanzer kit is sharply molded in light gray plastic, and features flexible belt-style tracks. Comes with a nice fret of photo-etched metal detail parts, braided metal wire for the tow cables, and a painting chart for a fictitious operational vehicle. No markings are included (none needed!). Another great "what-if" project from Trumpeter!
