Description

The C55 type is a steam locomotive that appeared in 1935 as a successor to the C51 type, and its appearance was modernized compared to previous steam locomotives of the same type, such as the dome shape and the addition of reinforcements called webs to the spokes of the driving wheels. It is characterized by The C55 class, which belonged to the Asahikawa engine depot, was used to tow passenger trains on the entire Soya Main Line in its later years, but all trains were withdrawn from service around the fall of 1974.
