Alongside the M1 Abrams, the M60A3 formed the backbone of U.S. armoured forces throughout the 1980s.

Built on the reliable cast-iron chassis of the M48 Patton series, the M60A3 was powered by a supercharged, air-cooled diesel engine, delivering mobility and endurance for extended operations.

The tank’s cast-iron turret houses a 105mm main gun with a thermal sleeve to prevent barrel distortion, while a laser rangefinder and ballistic computer provided advanced fire control for its time.

Production began in 1978, and the 3,600 units built served in leading combat and training roles for over two decades, cementing the M60A3’s reputation as a dependable and battle-ready platform.
