Originally introduced in October 1959, the Morris Mini revolutionised automotive design with its compact 2-box styling, front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, and remarkably efficient use of space.

Despite its modest beginnings with an 848cc engine, the Mini’s superb balance and innovative Hydrolastic four-wheel independent suspension made it a formidable performer on both road and track.

Recognising its potential, legendary British race car constructor John Cooper transformed the Mini into a serious competition machine.

Engine development progressed rapidly, culminating in the famous “Works Mini,” which used a 1293cc powerplant producing up to 91 horsepower to meet the 1300cc class regulations.

The racing Mini went on to achieve outstanding success, dominating circuits and rally stages throughout the 1960s.

Victories included the 1300cc class title in the British Saloon Car Championship , the European Touring Car Challenge , and numerous other wins that cemented the Mini Cooper’s place as a true motorsport legend.
