Fascinated by planes, jets and helicopters? It’s hard not to be! It’s almost impossible not to stop and watch as an aircraft soars through the clouds, and it’s even better sitting in the passenger seat looking down on the world below.
If you love the idea of piloting an aircraft, then RC planes and helicopters are for you! With your feet planted firmly on the ground, you can take to the skies and fly through the air, whether you’re exploring the local park, racing your friends or simply enjoying some air time in your own backyard.
Modelled after some of the world’s most recognisable and iconic aircraft, RC planes really do look and feel like the real thing — only you’re the one behind the yoke.
At Frontline Hobbies, we stock one of the largest collections of RC planes Australia has to offer. From high-performance brands like Kyosho, Seagull and Hangar 9, we have a huge range of models, colours, sizes and styles to choose from. Whatever aircraft you want to pilot, you’re sure to find it in our collection — if not, we’d be more than happy to source and supply it for you!

Ever wondered how radio control planes work?
RC planes have been around since the late 19th century when they were hydrogen-filled model airships controlled by a basic form of the spark-emitted radio signal. They were initially used for entertainment in auditoriums, but soon enough the military was using them in World War II as artillery target drones.
Now, RC planes are controlled remotely from the ground using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter communicates with a receiver inside the plane that sends signals to the servos which move the control surfaces based on the position of the joysticks.
In turn, the control surfaces affect the orientation of the plane.
Thanks to the simple build and affordability of RC planes today, flying radio control planes is an incredibly popular hobby for everyone!
Frontline Hobbies is the home of radio control cars, buggies, construction vehicles and, of course, aircraft! We stock hundreds of different RC plane models in-store and online, so you can find an aircraft to suit your flying style.
Our range of RC plane brands includes:
| E-Flite | Hobbyzone | Phoenix | FMS | Great Planes | Kyosho |
| Infinity Flight | Seagull | Ninco | Hangar-9 |
For a realistic and high-performance RC plane, you can’t go wrong with a model from E-Flite. The F-18 80mm EDF Jet, for example, is a remarkable scale replica of the iconic fighter jet flown by the US Marine Corps and the Navy. Complete with painted landing gear, removable tanks and ordnance, functional flaps and LED lights, it looks exactly like the real thing — only smaller.
The 12-blade fan and brushless motor also provide incredible speed and a turbine-like sound. For a more traditional plane, the E-Flite Cherokee celebrates the classic aviation design of the legendary full-scale PA-28. With an accurate outline, a long list of scale details, fantastic power and flight performance, this plane features everything that makes flying so fun!
Thanks to the smooth flight performance, the E-Flite Cherokee is the perfect choice for a first low-wing or scale model. It has SAFE Select Flight installed and a shock-absorbing nose, so you don’t need to be too worried about crashes.
