Kato N Union Pacific Railroad 4-8-8-4 Big Boy Steam Locomotive 4014

The steam locomotive known as "Big Boy", the representative of the USA's railroads, is finally here!

The real train is the world's biggest steam locomotive and belongs to the Union Pacific Railroad.
The comeback of this locomotive in 2019, after its 60 year long retirement starting in July 1959, became a hot topic. Since then, it continues its service as an excursion train and the face of the Union Pacific Railroad. Its stately details have been reproduced and it has been assured that this large steam locomotive can pass through the minimum passing R282 mm curve.

25 Big Boys were built for Union Pacific Railroad, the first of which was delivered in 1941. The locomotives were 40 metres long and weighed 544310 Kilograms. The frames of the "Big Boys" were articulated to allow them to negotiate curves. The Big Boy used a 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement, which meant that there were four wheels on the leading set of pilot wheels which guided the engine, two sets of eight drivers and four wheels following which supported the rear of the locomotive. The massive engines were most used between Ogden, Utah, and Cheyenne, Wyo.
