Description

The NSE (3100 series) was introduced in 1963 as part of efforts to increase tourist transportation capacity. While it inherited specifications from the previous SE (3000 series) such as a low center of gravity and articulated structure, the leading car featured a second-floor driver's seat and a more deluxe observation car at the front. From 1977 to the following year, air conditioning units were added to improve cooling capacity.

Following the introduction of the new LSE (7000 series) in 1983, the car underwent various renovations, including the automatic retracting of the front nickname display and a reshaping (from a pentagonal to a rectangular shape), the repositioning of some doors to accommodate the expansion of the cafe and shop area, and the replacement of the outer hood with a urethane core.

A new addition to the Odakyu Romancecar NSE (3100 series), a popular train that transcends generations, is now available. This product features the renovated specifications, including the automatic retracting of the front nickname display and a rectangular shape.

  • The front name display has been changed to an automatic retractable type, recreating the front car's appearance.
  • Cars 3 and 9 have been recreated, with an enlarged shop and coffee corner and repositioned side doors.
  • All cars have updated underfloor equipment and the outer covers of the connecting sections have been changed to a urethane core type.
  • A slotless motor is used for smooth and quiet running.
  • Head/tail lights, passing indicator lights, and front name display lights are illuminated (using white LEDs).
  • Car display and non-smoking car markings are printed.
  • Odakyu Romance Car NSE (3100 series) "Renewed car"
  • This is a product of the 3221 x 11 train set, which was in service until the end and is still part of the train set.
  • Lightning arresters installed between the pantograph and duct are recreated.
  • All cars have wine-red seat moquettes
  • The front name display reads "Hakone." Replacement trains include "Ashigara," "Sagami," "Enoshima," and "Super Hakone."
