The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was produced by the German automaker since 1954 and synthesized design, elegance and luxury. The 300 SL, where the acronym stands for Sport Leicht, or Sport Light, adopted innovative solutions for the time. The Mercedes coupe had a tubular chassis and a 2,996 cc front longitudinal engine. able to make the car reach a top speed of up to 260 Km / h. The transmission was 4-speed and the traction was back. The real strength of the car, however, lay in its innovative design and in the adoption of the characteristic opening of the doors hinged above the roof which influenced the name. The Mercedes 300 SL coupé was in fact known throughout the world as Gullwing (Seagull wings) for the aesthetic solution adopted.
