Description
The F-14 “Tomcat” joined the USN in 1974 and flew until 2006. On September 22, 2006, a three-day ceremony called “Tomcat Sunset” was held at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach. For the occasion a few VF-31 aircraft were given a special tail artwork, this included F-14 163904/102 which was produced in 1991. One part of the event was going to be a fly-past by 102 but a faulty generator grounded the aircraft with 107 having the honor. F-14 693904 eventually ended up at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.
