Description

Mazda 767 is a prototype of a Japanese racing car created by Mazdaspeed, a branch of Mazda Motor Corporation. A single Mazda 13J Wankel engine with a maximum power of 600 HP powered the vehicle.

The Mazda 767 was designed specifically for the IMSA and Le Mans events.

The 767 was created to replace the 757 on the track in 1988.

The new vehicle differed from its predecessor chiefly in the employment of a fully new engine with a higher maximum power output, though it retained the peculiar Wankel system.

The transmission was also upgraded, which was a major flaw in the Mazda 757.

Despite racing in the 1988-1990 seasons, the Mazda 767 did not win any races, particularly the Le Mans race, which had been a major goal.
