Description

The Zero floatplane was developed by the Air Technical Arsenal as a reconnaissance aircraft to be carried on submarines, and was officially adopted in 1940.

The aircraft was a monoplane with a lightweight frame covered in fabric.
To enable it to be stored on a submarine, the twin main wings were designed to be foldable, and the vertical stabilizer was designed to be as low as possible. This aircraft was used for covert reconnaissance over a wide area.

In 1942, a Zero floatplane was used on the submarine I-25 to bomb a forest in Oregon, USA, and is known as the only aircraft in history to have bombed the American mainland. This kit is a 1/72 scale reproduction of the Imperial Japanese Navy's "Asahi-Miyazaki Zero" floatplane.I t's molded in gray for easy painting.

The canopy and observation windows on the underside of the fuselage are molded in clear. The Kure Type 1 Type 4 launcher (catapult) is recreated at a length of 150mm. Once  assembled, the catapult can be used as a display stand. The package illustration is a new illustration by Mikiya Yoshihara, and a mini papercraft box is included for display alongside the completed model.

Decals are included in sets of two, and include the aircraft numbers (separate numerals) of the Sixth Fleet Affiliated Squadron and the prototype's Naval Aviation Technical Arsenal, the aircraft's Hinomaru mark, and the cockpit instrument panel. The instruction manual has been completely redesigned, with a decal combination chart and painting instructions clearly explained.
