The Truman Senate War Investigating Committee called the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang “the most aerodynamically perfect pursuit plane in existence.” During WWII, it blasted trains, ships, and enemy installations throughout Western Europe. The “D” variant, outfitted with its legendary Merlin engine, gave the U.S. Army Air Forces a high-altitude, long-range fighter capable of escorting heavy bomber formations the entire way to Berlin and back. The original E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.5m also went the distance to reproduce the famous fighter with exceptional detail, handling, performance, and presence. Now it's available again with the unique and iconic Big Beautiful Doll trim scheme Colonel John Landers made famous while scoring a total of 14.5 victories in WWII, including 4.5 in the P-51. It also features softer main tires and is still packed with all the same Extra Scale details and functional features, including LED navigation lights, sequenced main and tailwheel gear doors, flaps, and much more. Equipped with the proven and reliable 6S-compatible motor, plus a Spektrum Avian 100A Smart ESC. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!

Exclusive Technologies

The BNF Basic version P-51D Mustang 1.5m is equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR637TA+ receiver that features exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X+ will be active.

Smart Transmitter File

This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver if you choose. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.

Smart Technology

The P-51D Mustang 1.5m is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including overall battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR637TA+ installed in the BNF Basic version) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly.

Functional Extra Scale Features

Factory-installed LED navigation lights, operational flaps and control surfaces with pocket hinges — even sequenced main gear and tailwheel doors — are functional Extra Scale features that take your experience to another level.

The wide-spaced main gear feature reliable electric retracts equipped with durable metal components and shock-absorbing struts with scale wheels and softer tires make it possible to fly from a wider variety of surfaces including paved runways and some grass. The main gear and the retractable tailwheel also feature sequenced gear doors for added scale function and appearance.
