Airfix 1/72 Focke-Wulf Fw190 A-8/F-8 Plastic Model Kit
Now $19.99
Description
First flying in 1939, the Focke-Wulf FW190 was an immediate threat to RAF fighters when introduced in late 1941, being faster and more manoeuvrable than the Spitfire V then in service.
The F-8 was the ground-attack version and differed primarily in its lack of outboard cannons. Various combinations of underwing weapons were fitted, but the most common was one centreline bomb and four small bombs on the wings.
The A-8 version was the most numerous, heavily armed variant and entered service in 1944 in an attempt to stop Allied daylight raids. By then, however, the new Allied fighters had begun to outclass it.

History
First taking to the skies in 1939, the Focke-Wulf FW190 posed a significant challenge to RAF fighters upon its introduction in late 1941, being both faster and more agile than the Spitfire V at that time.
The F-8 was designed for ground attacks and was distinct mainly due to the absence of outboard cannons. It could carry various underwing armaments, most commonly featuring a central bomb and four smaller bombs on the wings.
The A-8 model was the most produced and heavily armed version, entering service in 1944 to counter Allied daylight bombing raids. However, by this time, newer Allied fighters had started to surpass it.
