Description

The MiG-21 is a Soviet masterpiece fighter that has been in operation since 1959, and is still in service. It was designed by the Mikoyan Gregovich design bureau, and the prototype made its first flight in 1955. In 1956, it gained its official designation of MiG-21; the first mass-produced model was called the MiG-21F, followed by improved versions. Among them, the MiG-21bis can be said to be the completed form of the MiG-21. It first flew in 1971, and it was equipped with one Tumanski R-25-300 turbojet engine. Its maximum speed was 2,175km/h, and it was armed with one fixed 23mm GSh-23L machine gun. It had four hard points and could carry up to 1,300kg of weapons. This aircraft was widely deployed and operated not only by the Soviet Union but in other communist countries as well.

This model kit from Platz accurately reproduces the silhouette of the MiG-21 Fished which has an air intake in the nose with a delta wing. The parts are made by Eduard; the hump from the rear of the cockpit to the vertical tail is reproduced with a separate part to accurately express the aircraft's shape. Details such as the panel lines, cockpit, landing gear and landing gear storage are all deeply expressed. The cockpit interior is also modeled in detail, down to the instrument panels and seats. The canopy can be assembled opened or closed; decals by Cartograf are included to reproduce the aircraft owned by MiG and used for various tests and exhibitions
