Description

SKU: ACA-12431 | Brand: Academy | Product: Academy 1/72 Super Etendard "2011" Limited Edition Reproduction The Dassault-Breguet Super Etendard, a single-engine French fighter-attack platform, first flew in October 1974 as an upgraded derivative of the Etendard IVM. Powered by a SNECMA Atar engine generating 4,900 daN, production yielded 71 aircraft for France, 14 for Argentina, and five for Iraq across two variants: the M fighter-attack and P reconnaissance types. Argentine Super Etendards notably employed AM-39 Exocet II missiles against British vessels during the Falkland Islands campaign, sinking HMS Sheffield and Atlantic Conveyor while damaging HMS Glamorgan. This limited-run kit features engraved panel lines, basic cockpit equipment, recessed wheel bays, detailed landing gear, selectable speed brakes and refuelling probe positions, fine antennae and sensor probes, 1,100-gallon auxiliary fuel tank, two R.550 Magic air-to-air missiles, one AM-39 Exocet anti-ship missile, and a bifurcated optional canopy. Decals represent No. 55 of Flottille 11F (2008) and No. 10 of Flottille 17F deployed aboard Charles de Gaulle during Operation Harmattan (2011).
