In the early morning hours of April 15th 1912, the Titanic struck an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. There were 2,224 people on board but less than half of the passengers survived the two hours, 40-minute sinking event.

The First Class Parlour Suites cost more than $4,350 ($117,000 today) for one transatlantic passage — needless to say, First Class was the height of luxury!

Even Third Class was unusually comfortable by contemporary standards with lots of good food and better conditions than the passengers had ever experienced at home.
