If you love building and collecting model ships, we can bet you’re fascinated with military ships, too. These hulking warships dominate the seas during times of conflict — think the I.J.N Destroyer Hatsuharu, Akizuki, Hatushimo and Hatsuzuki, the USS Chandler and the USS Saipan.
Our plastic model ships are so detailed, they’re almost like the real thing.
Passenger and civilian ships have a rich (and often record-breaking) history which is why model builders come flocking to Frontline Hobbies to find plastic ship models like the Hikawamaru Ocean Liner, the HMS Queen Elizabeth and the range of luxury cruise liners from AIDA (including the famous STELLA).
It goes without saying that the RMS Titanic is one of our most popular models. RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on the 15th of April 1912 after hitting an iceberg on her maiden voyage. The sinking of the Titanic shocked the world and has since inspired books, television shows and Oscar award-winning movies i.e. Titanic by James Cameron.

Sailing ship models are incredibly popular here at Frontline Hobbies because they look so good on display! From Viking longships to Roman triremes, pirate ships, cargo ships and elegant ships like the Santa Maria, HMS Victory and the English Man O’War, we stock ship models dating back centuries in naval history.
We even have legendary ghost ships like the Flying Dutchman — according to legend, the crew of this ship is immortal and invulnerable to injuries but they can never set foot on land. They’re doomed to sail the oceans until the end of time and torment other seafarers. Spooky!
Submarines are some of the most impressive innovations of man! The first successful submarine design took off during the 19th century and was adopted by several navies, eventually being used during World War I and World War II. Capable of operating on the surface and submerged in water, submarines are often used in war efforts, marine science, salvage operations, exploration and facility inspections/maintenance.
At Frontline Hobbies, we stock model submarines from the United States, Russia, Germany, China and Japan.
Thinking of building your ship models from the hull up? We have detail sets available to take realism to the next level. Simply filter the page by the scale and brand of your model, then find the name of the ship to add extra detail. From flags to torpedoes, machine gun nests, winches, windlasses and so much more, we have all the tiny details you need for a realistic build.
One of the biggest challenges when it comes to building a model ship are all the tiny parts. With this in mind, you’re going to need a few hobby tools to make building easier and achieve a better result.
First of all, you’re going to need a set of tweezers and a pair of pincers. Pincers will help you separate all the small parts from the packaging and tweezers will help put all the pieces into place. Using your fingers will make model building a lot harder than it needs to be — tweezers give you more precision.
You will also need a gentle file or some sandpaper to make sure there are no sharp edges and leftover plastic after removing the pieces from the packaging. These extra bits of plastic will make it harder to put the pieces together.
Finally, you’ll need some plastic cement to glue the pieces into place. We source our plastic cement from Tamiya, the leading manufacturer of modelling glue worldwide!
Do plastic ship models come with instructions?
Yes! All of our plastic ship models have instructions in the box. You won’t be left in the dark… Unless you like a challenge!
Are hobby supplies like tweezers included in the set?
Generally speaking, no. You will receive all the parts you need to build the ship and an instruction manual, but you will need to invest in some hobby tools to complete the project. We stock an incredible range of hobby tools for model building — if you need a hand shopping for tools, contact our team. We can help find the perfect tools for the project.
Can I add extra detail to my model ship?
Absolutely. If you want to make your model ship even more realistic, make sure to check out our range of detail sets. We have a wide range of extra parts and accessories.
Will my model ship come pre-painted?
Some do, some don’t. We recommend reading through the product description and specifications before making a purchase to make sure you have everything you need for the build. Many of our model ships come with decals, too, so you can add logos and flags to your model.
What brands do you offer?
We stock a huge range of model building brands including Tamiya, Trumpeter, Fujimi, Revell, Aoshima, Hobby Boss and many more. Check out the brand filter on the left-hand side of the page!
