Do I need to have seen the Gundam anime to use these kits?

No!

For the uninitiated, Gundam started as an anime series in Japan in 1979 and has since spawned over 30 different series and over 1,000 episodes. Let that sink in.

While the long-running Gundam multiverse may seem intimidating, you don’t need to watch the anime to enjoy your models. Many avid Gundam makers have never even seen the show. The appeal of Gundam kits is their detailed design and meditative assembly process, which doesn’t require glue or paint.

I’ve never assembled a Gundam before - should I start with Perfect Grade?

Even a construction kit legend will find a Perfect Grade Gundam intimidating. If you’ve never used a Gundam kit before, a High Grade Gundam is for you.

In terms of difficulty, High Grade Gundam is considered the best entry point for novices. They offer the widest variety of models and begin at a lower price point than the more intricate Perfect Grade. They’re also a great way to start practising painting and weathering techniques on your models!

How big is a Perfect Grade Gundam model?

Gunpla models use their own scale to indicate their size. All Gundam Perfect Grade models are 1/60 in scale, which equates to approximately 30cm in height.

High Grade Gundams are more accommodating at 1/144 or 13cm in height, while Master Grade Gundams are 1/100 or 18cm tall.
