Originally designated IS-8, it was subsequently renamed T-10. Approximately 1500 units entered service. Armament consisted of a 122mm M-62-T2 (2A17) rifled gun as primary armament, supplemented by a 14.5mm KPVT coaxial machine gun and anti-aircraft machine gun. Both loader and commander stations incorporated infrared night vision capability. The tank carried NBC protection systems and was powered by a 750hp V-12-6 diesel engine, achieving 50km/h maximum speed with 350km operational range. Combat weight reached 51 tons. T-10M tanks saw action during Operation Danube in 1968 and were retired from service in 1993.
