Italeri 1/48 Gumman F-14A Tomcat Plastic Model Kit

$49.99

Description

The US Navy's first superfighter, the F-14 was developed based in part on the experience of the F-111, a multirole aircraft developed by General Dynamics, of which Grumman was responsible for the F-111B naval version. The first flight of the F-14A took place on 21 December 1970, and the production models began to flow to the departments in 1973; Squadrons VF-1 and VF-2 participated in the last cruise of the aircraft carrier Enterprise in Vietnam, but did not have an opportunity to fight. The Tomcat's baptism of fire would only come in 1981, with the shooting down of two Libyan Su-22s in the first clash over the Gulf of Sidra. Since then the F-14, in increasingly updated versions, has taken part in various conflicts in the Middle East and former Yugoslavia.
